Inter-School Competitions on Shupavu: Run Zonal, Sub-County and County Exams, and Join Free Holiday Quizzes
No more chasing mark sheets from ten schools. You can now run zonal, sub-county and county exams on Shupavu with one WhatsApp link, and get rankings and analysis the moment marks are in. There are also free holiday quizzes for Grades 4 to 9!
f you've ever coordinated a zonal exam, you know how it goes. Ten schools send mark sheets in ten different formats. Someone spends a whole weekend re-typing them into one spreadsheet. Half the subject names don't match, and working out who came first takes another weekend of cross-checking.
We built Competitions on Shupavu so you never have to do that again.
So what is it?
Competitions lets any school host or join an inter-school exam at zonal, sub-county or county level. Each school enters marks in Shupavu the same way it always does, and the rankings and analysis build themselves.
There are two kinds:
- Inter-school exams. Your zone's joint exam, linked to each school's own exam on Shupavu, so teachers enter marks just once.
- Open quizzes. Online multiple-choice quizzes learners take on a phone or computer, marked instantly.
Setting one up takes minutes
Here's the whole journey:
- Create it. Pick the level (zonal, sub-county or county), the grades and the subjects. We tick the subjects for you, grouped by grade, so you're mostly just checking.
- Share one link. You get a join code and a link you can drop straight into your zone's WhatsApp group.
- Let schools in. Approve each school yourself, or turn on auto-approve and let them join straight away. A school can't join twice, and can step out cleanly if plans change.
- Link the exam. Each school links its own exam, even one it has already created.
- Enter marks as usual. No extra sheets, no emailing spreadsheets around.
- Watch the results come in. Rankings and analysis update as marks are entered.
Results that are actually fair

We sweated the details here, because a ranking is only useful if people trust it:
- Ties are handled properly. Two learners on the same score share the same position.
- Subjects line up across schools, even when schools use different subject codes or names.
- Schools that don't offer a subject aren't penalised for it.
- CBC levels and points sit right next to the scores.
- One big table shows every learner from every school ranked together, with subject scores side by side.
When you're ready to share, download the full analysis as a PDF or Excel file, with school rankings, subject means and top performers. If you'd rather not show learners' names publicly, there's an anonymous PDF too. Back in your exams list, competition exams carry a little tag with a shortcut straight to the latest rankings.
